The Troutwine Athletic Profile (TAP), is an athletic mindset indicator that scientifically measures the mental intangibles related to athletic and personal success. From a simple 25-minute online assessment, the TAP is able to accurately measure over 100 mental intangibles. Once completed, output in the form of mental intangible metrics, reports and development plans are instantly available for evaluation, coaching and development purposes.
Dr. Robert Troutwine first developed the Troutwine Athletic Profile (TAP) in the 1980’s to help NFL® teams identify players with the critical mental intangibles believed to predict success. The TAP has undergone several revisions, with the most recent occurring in 2017. The TAP has a three decade record of success in player personnel evaluation with leading teams in the NFL®, MLB®, NBA®, NHL®, NCAA® and the US Department of Defense -- winning over 100 championships in the process. Today, the TAP is the assessment component of the AthleteTypes System, an end-to-end online platform for evaluating, coaching and developing athletes for peak mental performance in athletics, school, and life.
TAP used by NFL Hall-of-Famer Bill Polian to build rosters at Buffalo Bills during their 4 Super Bowl seasons and Indianapolis Colts for their Super Bowls and Championship. The TAP and Dr. Troutwine famously helped the Colts choose Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf in 1998 NFL draft.
TAP used to build New England Patriots rosters during entire tenure of Bill Belichick – including providing insights to the Patriots as to Tom Brady’s strong mental intangibles in 2000 NFL draft.
TAP used to build roster of 2015 World Series champion Kansas City Royals – specifically targeting players that scored high in mental toughness.
In 2014, Dr. Troutwine co-founded The Right Profile, combining the TAP with a predictive analytics technology platform to develop the ground-breaking AthleteTypes System – an end-to-end online system for assessing, coaching, and developing athletes for peak mental performance in athletics, school and life.
Now, the TAP and AthleteTypes system are available to all of amateur sports including individual athletes, teams and athletic departments.
