Introducing Silver State Youth Sports

Silver State Youth Sports is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation based in Carson City, Nevada. Silver State Youth Sports (SSYC) operates the Silver State Volleyball Club (formerly Capital City VBC) in addition to after school clinics and summer programs.

Participants for these programs come from Washoe County, Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County, Churchill County, Humboldt County, the Lake Tahoe area, and from as far away as Tonopah and Spring Creek.

The goals of Silver State Youth Sports are:

Enhancing the development of young women through the physical challenges and emotional trials inherent in the game of volleyball towards the betterment of the person as a whole.

Using volleyball as a team sport to build character traits of high value toward personal development and success on the court, in the classroom and later in life.

Embracing the discipline & commitment needed to reach high standards, learning to work with others as a team in pursuit of a common goal, and adherence to codes of fairness and respect.

In 2012, over 350 girls and boys participated in after school camps and clinics. Since 2004, more than 2500 youths have attended programs funded by Silver State Youth Sports.

Silver State Volleyball Club and Capital City Volleyball Club (1998-2010) have helped 107 young ladies attend college where they have received more than three million dollars in athletic, academic and need based financial assistance. In 2010, the volleyball program changed names to reflect the growth of the programs to all of Northern Nevada and the Lake Tahoe area of California.

Each year Silver State Youth Sports in conjunction with the volleyball program puts together a Booster's Dinner which benefits all of the programs. SSYC is run by a volunteer board of Directors and 100% of all fundraising goes to programs that benefit Northern Nevada youth.
